Kristen Barrera proudly serves as the Clerk for Milton Township and has been a resident of the township for 11 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration and brings a strong commitment to public service, organizational excellence, and community engagement to her role.

In addition to her work as Township Clerk, Kristen has dedicated the past 16 years to the healthcare field, where she has developed extensive experience in administration, customer service, and serving the needs of others. Her professional background has provided her with valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail that benefit the residents of Milton Township.

Kristen and her husband are proud parents of three children. Their family enjoys spending time together on their 14-acre property, riding quads, swimming in their pool, and making lasting memories outdoors.

A dedicated member of her church community, Kristen volunteers in the one-year-old children’s ministry, where she enjoys supporting and caring for young families. She is passionate about serving others and is honored to contribute to the growth and success of the Milton Township community.

The statutory duties of a township clerk include:

  • Maintaining custody of all township records
  • Maintaining general ledger
  • Preparing warrants for township checks
  • Recording and maintaining township meeting minutes
  • Keeping the township book of oaths
  • Being responsible for regular and special meeting notices
  • Publishing board meeting minutes
  • Keeps voter registration file and conducts elections.
  • Keeps township ordinance book
  • Prepares financial statements
  • Must appoint a deputy

The Clerk is one of the five members of the township’s Board of Trustees.
