A vote is expected by the House THIS Wednesday, Nov. 1, on House Bills 5120, 5121, 5122 and 5123, which would eliminate local control over siting and permitting for utility-scale renewable energy facilities—and we need your continued help. The vote is expected to be extremely tight—one vote will make a difference. Please reach out to your state representative and senator TODAY, and ask them to oppose this legislation.

Planning experts have said that this legislation would be the beginning of the end of local zoning. Even if you do not believe these facilities could locate in your community, we need your help to protect local authority. Please spread the word and encourage your fellow township leaders and residents to reach out as well. Every call and contact helps in our efforts to protect local control in this important issue that creates lasting change in communities for decades.

Help MTA ensure your—and your residents’—voices are not silenced. Contact your lawmakers today as one vote on the House floor will determine if these bills pass and your local authority is preempted. Additional talking points can be found on MTA’s “Renewable Energy Siting and Permitting” webpage.
